NOD32 Errors

A user reported the following experience; he was using NOD32 v. 2.0 in order to offer a little help.  The user had not been using this version for long.  He had just replaced his former Kaspersky AV.  He got an Word document attached by email from source he trusted, he had no reason to believe it contained a virus since the source from which the email with attached Word document was a trusted and dependable source. The source, was dependable in regards to virus protection. User experienced the message “the anti-virus has reported an error the file cannot be checked for viruses” when user attempted to open this document.

It was an important document that user needed to access and NOD32 would not allow him to open the document because of the error. He tried disabling NOD32 but still the same error message appeared. Could this be a corrupt document? Could this be in the wrong setting? Is it possible that his document had been password protected.  Could this be causing the NOD32 error. ESET NOD32 anti-virus was released in English, Brazilian, Czech and Portuguese for users who are licensed along  with a trial version and more languages will follow. The ESET NOD32 anti-virus v 4.0.435 is released in the Bulgarian languages. The mentioned released contain changes such as fixed the mail corruption issued with the Mozilla Thunderbird plugin, made minor fixes for the Mozilla Thunderbird plugin, made minor fixes in ESET SysInspector, and fixed the issue from running the ESET SysRescue when changing fromSmart Security to the ESET NOD32.

Anti-virus ESET NOD32 v 4.0.437 has been released for licensed users  in Slovak with trials.  Other languages are to follow.  Antivirus  ESET NOD32 4/437 is now released in German, French, Polish and Spanish -licensed users.  Trial versions are available and other languages will follow. Anti-virus ESET NOD32 v 4.0.442 Business Edition has been released in Hungarian-licensed users.  A home edition is available to licensed users. Trial versions to follow. The release is functionally as well as in  features to  set as v 4.0.437. ESET NOD32 v. 4.0.437 anti-virus are now available in, Dutch, French, French-Canadian, English, Polish, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Romanian, Czech and Turkish.  Other languages as well as versions will follow.

In regards to NOD32 errors, this is required to remove detection of four tools to download; go to the NOD32 Control Center Start – all programs – eset NOD32. Select AMON then setup then options. Unselect ‘potentially dangerous applications’ version 2.5 or ‘potentially urgent’. Select ‘ok’. Select IMON then select setup, select miscellaneous, select scanner setup then setup tab. Unselect ‘potentially dangerous applications’ version 2.5 or ‘potentially urgent’ then select ‘ok’ then select ‘ok’ again. Once this NOD32 process is complete, re-select ‘potentially dangerous application’. Follow instructions found at prompt.

After the above, when dealing with NOD32 errors, select NOD32 Control Center then you will see a green and white split square on the screen. Select NOD32. Then select Run NOD32. Select ‘scan and clean’. Reboot your computer into safe mode. Select ‘start’ then select all programs, the choose ESET NOD32. After these first two scans are performed, download runscanner from www.runscanner.com and extract it to a new directory. Then run runscanner.exe select expert mode. Press start scan. Press export .run file (not text log file) call the file ‘system info’ and click save. Now, download and run lookinmypc from www.lookinmypc.com and select ‘generate report’. Wait a moment then scan results will pop up in a browser.
